What would be the best cat converter for performance and sound?

I noticed that my exhaust was sounding kind of raspy lately. I headed over to the muffler shop after my oil change today; I decided to try the Royal Purple synthetic. It turns out that I have a hole in my cat. The mechanic said it would cost $300 for the OEM. It's kind of like a curse and a blessing; a new cat would be some money lost but my exhaust system would be complete. I remember seeing a link to various types of cat converters but I can't locate it. Does anyone know where I can get a really good sounding and performing cat for a good price? Should go with Warpspeed? Do these cats have a hole for my O2 sensor? I currently have a Frankencar Intake, Budget Y-pipe, custom b-pipe, and Greddy muffler. Thanks.

I read that Warpspeed has the best value for the money- as good as the Random but cheaper. They also make a Metallic substrate that is supposed to be the highest flowing Cat you can buy- However- I didnt notice much gain with a Warpspeed metallic cat. The one comperable to Random is most likely good enough. In fact, I heard the stock Cat is not at all bad and I believe it- but since you are stuck having to buy a new one I would go with Warpspeed- up to you if you want their top of the line for maybe 1-2 extra HP.

Just my .02

FYI, I thought emissions stuff (cat converters specifically) on US cars were supposed to be warrantied for 10 years. Some sort of federal law. If you want the cheap route...maybe look into that.

You will not get any gains with a hi-flow cat. RT, carsound, even the pos test pipe. Maybe if you're boosted and even then I'd use an exhaust cut-out.

I don't want them to waste money on crap. If you want to pay $100+ to make your car sound raspier then go for it.

Really? I'll call the dealership tomorrow and ask about it. However, I'm not the original owner of the car, but it's still under 10 years. So even the substrate cat sounded ricey and over no improvement? I was eyeing the warspeed substrate cat.

I think i screwed up....after stating it was a 10 year warranty...i did some further research....http://www.sema.org/content/?id=22238

It is good info to note tho. So basically 8yr/80,000mi federal warranty. My bad...my info was wrong....but still applies if you happen to fall into that category(doubt it).

Wow, I missed that warranty by 50,000mi. Would I be safe getting a high-flow Warpspeed cat or Warpspeed metallic subrate cat? I mean safe in terms of sound? I don't want something loud or too loud.

I got the Warspeed metallic substtare cat installed. The exhaust is nice with no loudness in sound. However, I just got a CEL a day after the install reading 0707, the O2 sensor. Could it be that it wasn't installed properly or I need a new one? If I need a new one, should I got OEM or universal? Thanks.
