Hey, guys! I'm new here. Probly gonna buy a Max. Suggestions?

What's up guys. I am really into maximas just like y'all. I was thinkin of getting one of my own. I found an ad on autotrader.com, and it is EXACTLY what I am looking for (98 Black Maxima SE 5-speed). I went and checked it out. The car is in immaculate condition. I love it. HOWEVER, there is problem. It has 93,000 miles. I realize that to locate the car I am looking for is incredibly difficult (I have been searching for several months for a car near my home). The dealer is willing to come down to the high 6000's price range. So, my question to you guys is: It is worth the risk to assume the high mileage for a pretty awesome price? I mean, the car was taken car of. How are Nissan engines after 100k miles? If you guys could give me some advice, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks everyone.

Dave

There are many of us still charging hard in the upper 100s. There are even a few above that.

That car still has at least 125k more miles of life left in it.

you should be all right as long as it wasn't beat on. . . ask for records of oil changes and any work done to the car... get a mechanic to go with you to check out the car . . . i got 123K on my 98 SE and still running strong....
also, check the tranny, make sure it's not acting up or anything....

Good Luck

sounds like a pretty good deal. I would take it to a mechanic that you trust and then buy it if he says it checks out all right. I mean, that is not really high miles for a 98. On average, it would probably have somewhere around 90k, so you are sittin' good.

Let us know what happens with it...
Plus, if you go ahead and get it, you can get a y-pipe for $160 from Warpspeed Performance until 2/21/04. Hurry and make a decision!
