I have a small oil leak, where from?

I have noticed a minor oil leak coming from right above or near the oil filter area. I tried looking up in there to see where it is coming from but I cannot detect it.

Any ideas where this leak could be coming from? And what would be a typical cost to get it repaired? Is there an additive that I can add to the oil to seal it from within?

It could be the oil pressure switch..easy to replace and cheap

I have the exact same thing man. I replaced the oil sender unit... wasn't it. Then I thought i didn't tighten the oil filter down enough. NOt it either. But when I went to go get my transmission serviced I asked if they could see where the leak is coming from. They said its a seal around the timing cover. Like a gasket or something. I don't really know how involved it is but I am not going to mess with it. At least not for now.

Most likely, it's the oil pressure switch. Very easy to replace. The part cost $5.99 at AutoZone. And you'll need a very deep 27mm socket.

You guys are awesome! That's why I love this board. I am glad I asked about this before taking it to a mechanic and getting ripped off.

Thanks again!

I had the same problem and thought it was the oil sensor. It wasn't it was my steering pump. Had to get it replaced. Check your pump first.

I hate to say it but, if it's your seals behind the timing cover, that's over a grand to have fixed by someone like a dealer. Make sure you check to see if that's really it.
