Pulled up the How-To by Alex Hsu and it looked simple enough. Thanks for the write-up btw. But i didn't want my PS window switch a different color than the PS lock switch. So i figured i'd take a shot at the window switch. Not too hard, just have to be careful and a little patient. So what do you guys think?

Sorry i didn't take pics during the process so without pics it'd be pretty hard to explain. But if someone in the area is interested i can show them how and i'll do a writeup then. Anyone interested?

I removed the existing bulb and that green rubber holder. then i soldered the new led in between the two copper contacts. only difference is you have to use a 3Kohm resistor on the the positve side of the led. as far as the rest of the switch i just made sure i put it all back together the way it was. Do you still have the parts that came out of the switch? If you do you can send it to me and i'll fix it for you.

Here's a crude diagram for you.

the ball bearings sit on top of the metal contacts and the plastic cover has the 2 small springs that should sit on top of the ball bearings.

Are the LED's a direct swap with resistors built into the board or do you have to solder the resistors on also? I've got some LED's to try this with. I'm going to attempt one tonight.

They are not a direct swap. You have to solder the new LED in place, but first you have to solder the resister to the LED and then to the contact on the switch. Be sure to pay attention to where you place the resistor in reference to the sliding mechanism and the top half of the switch. You'll see what i mean once you open it up. Also, there is no circuit board. Just two copper contacts. Again, you'll see what i mean once you open it up.

If I do this it would probably use super white or red LEDs. If white it would be a perfect match to the rest of the car. Or I can give it a euro look and make it all red. Even the guages.
