Hello there, I picked up a 2000 Maxima about 5 months ago. I've already replaced the MAF because it was sputtering at 4000 rpm in all gears. That fixed that. The alternator went a month ago but I also have a metal kind of smell after stomping it. It's difficult to describe. It smells almost electrical. Certainly not oil, not gas. Is this a sign of the ignition coils?
I have also had a little bit of a coolant smell but there is no sign of a coolant leak and oil stays fairly clean. The wiring smell is a lot stronger than the coolant though. Any insights?
