Funny Idle after ECU check
Funny Idle after ECU check
Ok so I checked my ECU for the first time and was pleased to see that I got 0505 or nothing really wrong. So after that I went in and waited till I had to go to work. When I started the car it didnt want to start but then it did and a cloud of smoke came out. I got the car running, but the idle is really really low from the usual 700 to about 250. Then it jumps up and down from 250-500. I can hear the engine whining a bit as if it is sucking for air and the RPMS as I said keep hoping from 250-500. There is also a weired noise I believe from the the idle being so low. I think it affecting the performance as well. I talked to a friend who is a mechanic and he said that maybe I need to remove the battery cable for 30 mins and then check in hopes of reseting the computer. So I did that to no avail, but he said maybe I have to wait for 2 days or so of normal driving and it would reset itself. Also the car shakes when the idle is low, I am guessing because it is so low. Any help or advice would be great. Thanks

Yes it will affect you idle, you could have it turned snug the wrong way...just check it. It may also cause a strange ticking noise from the IACV even when the car is off and the key is turned to on. I had my screw in the wrong spot for a month and could not figure out what was wrong.
