2000 Max manual advice question

From the "Starting engine" section:

"In the summer, when restarting the
engine within 30 minutes after it has
been stopped, keep the accelerator
pedal fully depressed while starting."

Why is that?

This is news to me... I've never done that and it starts fine all the time.

Well what happens when you start the engine with the accelerator depressed in general?
