Wheel bearings blown?

After I've been driving for 5-10 minutes, i start to get this droning noise from what seems to be the rear right wheel. It starts low, and as I brake more or turn the wheel it gets louder, which leads me to believe it is the wheel bearings? The sound is almost like a low pitched squealing noise, my friend who is pretty smart with cars says it's gotta be the wheel bearing. I was wondering how hard it is to replace yourself, what is required and how much do the bearings cost? any help would be appreciated greatly thank you.
