Nismo Heads for VQ30 and VQ35!!?!?!

Interesting stuff:

http://www.my350z.com/forum/showthre...threadid=67977

http://www.performancenissanparts.co...roducts_id=311

can't find the other thread on the 350z forums but i'll summarize. Apparently you can fit this on to either engine, however on the vq35 since the upper combustion chamber size is smaller it will raise the compression above 12:1. The valve openings are larger and thus you need to use valves from a VK45 (infinity Q45) motor. Also there is room to accomadate higher lift cams, and i think it will work with the nismo cams.

Any of you ballsier VQ30 or VQ35 guys who have run out of mods to spend money on can try this. Supposedly they flow MUCH better than stock heads and coupled with the right cams can probably make some serious power.

thoughts?

BTW performance nissan tried to install these and botched it by installing the cams 180 degrees off. they decided to go back to their original set up so that they could still participate in this season's racing with their 350z. I believe they will try again soon. It's going to be quite a bit of tinkering. Maybe Matt or Matt or Matt or Matt would be willing to give it a go

I think they'd fit...but...I can't justify spending $2500+ for something that's not going to increase power very much, or require me to run higher octane fuel because of raised compression, etc.

For that money I'd rather save towards FI.

EDIT: And for that matter, far more than $2500 because you still have plenty of other parts to purchase to make it work, and I'll bet those cams are expensive.

They will only increase your compression if you have a 3.5L engine. I'd estimate these heads, with the right cams could give you a 25-35% increase in power, N/A or FI. On a 3.5L dished pistons would take care of the compression issue. Granted it's a lot of work and money, but you gotta pay to play. Like I said it's for people who've run out of things to mod, or are very adventurous.

I never said it was for the faint of heart or small of wallet

Keep in mind the VQ35 Cylinder heads have the Variable Valve Timing on the intake cams. If you are to get the most out of this setup on a VQ30 you would have to find a way to get the VVT to work. But if you have a 2k2 or newer Maxima your all set if you got the green and the *****.

No thanks. Im far too cheap to spend money on parts when I can essentially take my stock crap and make them do the same things.
