Am I being Crazy?

Well, I was out driving last night, im still getting acquainted with stick. I'm not too bad, rarely stall anymore, getting fewer and fewer inbetween. I was at a light so I pulled away and went into 2nd, but right as this happend my like rpms went to like 4000 and then it went to 2nd. I'm not sure if i was revving it in neutral before 2nd came or what. But afterwards I seem to feel like 2nd was a more sluggish gear than it normally was, with the rest of the gears acting somewhat normal like they always did. The shifter also seemed a little notchy. I don't know what's going on, but I'm not an expert on manual, only had the car about a month so far. I wish I could know what was going on. I'm going to go out later and redrive it, maybe its im my head or not. But it only has 40000, and the people who drove it before me drove really good on it and I dont know how in 300 miles I could already ruin a clutch???? Any ideas?

did it stay up for like couple of seconds or went right down?? if it staid up the clutch could be slipping.. mine did in 2nd and then in about a week it died completely and my car didn't go past 10 miles an hour heh...
