H22 Prelude

Well, I have only a few friends that are into moding cars, and they all love hondas. I showed them that they need to respect my maxima more than ever...

We went to a pool hall, I drove my car and my frind drove his car (modded civic EX 2dr) When we pull up we notice these 2 kitted cars next to eachother, it's a civic hatchback and a h22 prelude. The both looked suprisingly nice. My friend ended up knowing the guy with the prelude, and we said hi and joked about racing. (my friend told me that a h22 would whoop my a@s) Well We did race, from a roll, about 65 mph.

DEAD even, (give or take a few feet during shifts) all the way until 120 at which point a car was in one of our lanes. My buddy in his civic was waaay back, I gave the h22 guy thumbs up and headed home. My friend was "geeked" he told me in the pool hall that the h22 would spank me, I thought it would beat me but not by a whole lot, I was plesently suprised...

I want to try him from a stop, as well as find out what mods he has, I know hes stick with full exhaust, I'll try and talk to him tomorrow...

Gotta love the VQ

I'm honestly shocked that your car didn't beat the Prelude... Was it a 93-96 or 97-00 Lude? Cuz the 97+ Ludes are heavy beasts with really long gearing. I think a Max could pull on one easily.

it was a 95, hes stick and i'm auto with an exhaust leak.

Thats why I wanna race him from a stop.... For better results.

That friend I was with didn't tell me what mods the prelude guy had, all he said was that i'd get spanked, the lude could have MAJOR mods that I don't know about yet. He for sure spent alot on his Full kit and custom paint job.

For all I know he could have a racing clutch, flywheel, ecu, vtec controller, headers. im pretty sure he had a STS and intake also.

the H22 engine is pretty slow from a roll. From a take off I don't know. I do know that they only have like 135 LB-FT of Torque. But since your car is an auto, depending on what he has got done to his car it will be a close race. I have a friend with an H22, for now he beats me by 2-3 cars. But he is heavily modified and I'm all stock. Cant wait until I show him the surprise I have in store for him (5-speed conv.) then it will be me by 2-3 cars. hehe.

Whats the HP Rating of an H22. For a second I thought I read that it had 135hp. Which totally freaked me out b/c that's what the SOHC V-Tec ZC-6 (Z or ZC, can't remember) had stock. Are they pulling upwards of 150 hp or so? I'm pretty curious b/c my friend had a Prelude SH with the H22 in it.

It's 190HP DOHC with VTEC,

Three engines powered 1992-96 Preludes. Base S models used a 135-horsepower, single-cam 2.2-liter 4-cylinder. A dual-overhead-cam 2.3-liter, rated 160 horsepower, went into the midlevel Si. High-performance VTEC Preludes, available from 1993 to '96, benefited from a dual-cam 2.2-liter with variable-valve timing, developing 190 horsepower.

Pretty impressive for a Honda. Put one of those in a little CRX and it would fly off the ground. Scary stuff.

the top engine for a civic i've heard about right now is the Type-R RSX Type S Engine. Now that would be crazy, with mods it would have like 200Hp at the wheels!!! and still weigh 2000lbs. You can do anything with a civic

4th gen auto vs. 5spd GSR would be a better match....

from a stop you would beat him easily preludes are almost as heavy as us and not nearly enough torque to keep up with us. as for a gsr they are a better match but still slower than us not by much but still slower. i raced a 5 speed gsr and im 5 speed and i pulled on him nasty but he caught up but i still had him bout half a car length

"lude" type-s has the same horsepower rating as the base (97-01 ludes). the only diff was some interior ammenities and the 4 wheel steering (whatever honduh calls it). watch out though... throw a h22a, b18 (series), b16a or a2, into a 88-91 crx or 92-95 hatch and hehe... get ready to have your a$$ handed to you. that is unless your max is boostin or laughing it's happy a$$ from the bottle.

I have run a h22a civic from a stop. Im running a 3.33 pulley on a v1 s/c. from a stop the jdm h22a in a civic with the right driver is very quick off the line!!
With a s/c you cant just stomp it and expect to go anywhere. I was playing catch up to about 85mph. from a role its a different story.
