Won't start after many starts in a row

And here I was happy with my new baby (99 SE-L) -- then this!

I just took my son out to teach him how to drive a stick shift. Naturally, he kills the engine a lot, and has to restart a lot. Well, after maybe 2 dozen restarts in the space of maybe 20 minutes, it won't restart. At first, the starter spun the engine over (at normal starting RPM, I might add) but it wouldn't fire. Then it wouldn't even turn over at all. We pushed it to a hill where we could bump start it, but it wouldn't fire even with this. We got it back to the house and let it cool. After a while, the starter motor function returned, but no joy at the spark plugs. Tried paralleling a battery, just in case there was some minimum the computer had to see - nothing (the batt measures 12.5v).

So while I let it cool some more, any ideas on what happened?

Thnx

I've poked around a little bit more. I think I'm on to it: The manual says, in the Nissan Vehicle Immobilser System section, that if the car won't start and the Security light stays on when the key is in the ON position, it's the key. And take it to the dealer. Just great....

Help!!!
