i just cleaned the throttle body and....

OH my god.. My 2000 Maxima GLE feels so much better and smoother. I have the K &N drop in in there as well, and the thing is amazing.. The air filter box and hoses and sh** took me about an hour to remove using motorvate.ca's instructions. I bought a $3.00 can of Throttle Body and Air Intake cleaner. So much black oil and build up crap just streamed out of the throttle body. My suggestion to anybody who has low idle, and loss of some power, CLEAN THE THROTTLE BODY. I noticed way better accleration and no more hesitation. Thanks to the people at motorvate. Overall process took me about 2 hours (because i needed to find tools). So... Go for it

Whats up? Cleaned mine the other day also but I did not remove the entire air box I just loosened the four main bolts in order to give some room to get the accordian hose off. Took me about 20-25 min to clean and I notice a huge difference also. Amazing how something so simple can do such wonders.

I tried to take my throttle body off today to clean it but I stripped the upper left hex bolt Now I'm going to have to find a way to get it loose. I cleaned what I could see which wasn't awhole lot. I would imagine there is alot more to clean behind the throttle plate.

In case you haven't noticed, there's nothing "new" under the sun here. There's nothing wrong with posting good news. Don't flame people for doing so...

Just wondering if the transmission and Engine flush that the service department recommends includes cleaning the Throttle body? I want my car to feel brand new as much as possible because the new TL is starting to tempt me to trade!

Cleaned the throttle body with carborator cleaner and was quite surprised with the amout of tar deposit behind the butterfly plate. It took me close to 2 hrs to clean the throttle body and the rough idle and hesistation has disappeared.

You know what the car drivers quicker and my wife is having a hard time with the speed and constant watch on the speedometer (worrying not getting ticketed!!!)

2 Hours? Should take only about 25-30 minutes.

shouldnt have much to do with the air filter. But if you have a breather filter, this may explain this. If you are not recirculating blow-by gasses this may keep the TB cleaner but your gas MPG may go down.
