Bose vs non-Bose HU

I don't mean to harp on the topic. I asked this question a few days ago. What I needed to find out is if I can take out the non-Bose head unit and plug in the Bose unit without any mods. Are the plugs the same? I know the Bose units have more speakers but other than that I do not see any problems. Has anyone out there done this?I have a 99 GXE.

You'll need Bose speakers (they have amps built-in) and re-wire the whole thing to make it work.

If you're looking to upgrade your sound, it might be better to keep your non-bose and upgrade your component speakers.

Out of curiosity what are you trying to achieve by swapping out headunits?

My HU does not have a CD player. All I really want to do is get a CD installed. I wanted the stock unit because it looks cleaner.
I'll have to go aftermarket.

I have a non-bose HU with CD from when I installed my new pioneer. Its from my 98 SE. I might be selling it if the price is right.
