Help - Sunroof only opens/closes a couple of inches at a time??

I have searched but found nothing re: this problem. Anyone experience the sunroof only opening or closing only 2-3 inches at a time. Do I need a new motor or is there a known fix. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

have you recently unplugged the battery? there is a reset procedure for a sunroof, I believe you have to hold either tilt up or down button for a couple of seconds. It is also in a car manual

I have not recently unplugged the battery but I only bought it a couple of months ago, 2000 SE. That's great, sounds like there is a fix/"Reset Procedure". Does anyone have more detailed info/instructions on this procedure?? I do not have a Service Manual.

Thanks

That's it?? Just disconnect and reconnect battery?? Does it need to be disconnected for a certain amount of time??

I tried two things:

1)Hold the close tilt button down for 20 seconds. This resets the sunroof (you'll here a click).

2)Unplug the relay under the steering wheel.

Neither one helped my problem with the sunroof. Finally I took it to the dealer and they updated the software. Sunroof works flawlessly now.

If it was the fuse wouldn't it not work at all?? When I close and or open it moves a couple of inches and then there is a click at the switch.???

None of the above mentioned suggestions worked but thanks for the input.

Guys, he has a 00. Its a MECHANICAL sunroof so all the reset suggestions dont apply here...that process only applies to 02+'s.

I do remember hearing of issues like yours and a motor/pc board assembly needed to be replaced, but I am not 100% if that will be your solution.

Sounds like I was trying fixes which don't apply to my year, anyway..... I will see what the dealer has to say but I think pushing the switch 5 times to open or close is a pretty cheap alternative. Also the sunroof is a little unlevel and I have heard there are shims which can be put in to level.?? Any info on that??
