HS headers are on my 2k1

SR20DEN and myself (him doing most of the work) were able to install the hotshot headers on my AE yesterday. everything went smoothly until we had/have a clearance issue with bank 2 sensor 1 in the collector being too close for comfort for a metal line coming off the compressor. we modified the o2 sensor to fit but it did set off the light. if that o2 bung location was 1 inch higher then it would not have been an issues. we were able to get away w/o lengthening any primary o2 but it was pretty close on bank 2. secondaries were relocated to the b pipe a few inches behind the main cat.
i have pretty detailed pictures of most of the install including comparision shots of stock vs. hostshot components.
my setup before was cattman y pipe and a custom 2.25 b pipe. i still have the stock cat but no resonator in my b pipe. the headers sound favorable to me under typical driving but i am told it is too loud outside the car under WOT. butt dyno is too subjective but ill state my opinion. i feel as it sweeps past 4k that i am making additional power compared to just the y pipe and this was at around 80 degree weather.
we will be addressing the o2 issue shortly and will post up any updates. some pictures are up on my homepage now and more will follow shortly. i will try to make some short videos of the sound but i do plan to install a resonator before too long. i am sure we will come up with an answer to the o2 issue and this should give hope to all 2k1 and possibly cali spec 2ks. if you are seriously interested, contact SR20DEN for install prices and install date. if you have any general question then contact me and i will get back to you.

Give the headers a week or so. I swear performance improved on a daily basis for me for the first few days. What gaskets did you guys use for the header/y pipe connection? The POS ones that Hotshot gave me are already blown out, causing an exhaust leak.

i bought the stock metal gaskets. i considered doubling them up do to the thinner flanger on the y pipe but it would push my b pipe back enough to hit the heat shield in front of the ga tank. they are about 6 bucks a piece.

Jeff from maximum tuning just put my HS headers on my 02 max. He used the new "improved" gasked from hot shot. He told me they shouldn't have the problems the older ones did. I'm really impressed so far, but damn is it loud, for the time being, i have no resonator on the b pipe too. I hear so much damn noise now it aint funny. I can hear this kinda dripping sound, almost like liquid and stuff towards the front of the car, and the raspy metal kinda banging sound from the muffler. I'm doing a full cattman setup in a few weeks, so i hope that fixes the problem. Immediatly i notice the power, and it's freakin great.

Much better then the POS warpspeed y pipe i had. Although the sound is loud, it doesn't sound to ban when im not pulling, and driving normal. In 6th gear crusing, the car seems normal. In lower gears pulling hard the car seems loud as *****.

Needless to say, i'm real happy here : ]

Were you guys supplied the extra bungs from whoever you ordered your headers from?

i had to call hotshot and provide them with a proof of purchase. they sent the 2 bungs out and i received them 4 days later. i did however only receive 1 wire for extending 2 o2 sensors and it was so short it would not even work for one but lucky for me, matt had some extra. i am also getting the raspy metallic noise from my stock muffler as well. i figured it would be solved by adding a good sized resonator.

This is to prove that the Hotshot headers for the 2k2 (VQ35) will fit the VQ30 cars that don't require EGR.

I really haven't come up with a tried and true way to solve this issue.
And for most of you I still recommend the Cattman headers because the fitment is better.
