Finally raced the spec v and it wasn't pretty...

It was a 04 spec v with intake heders exhaust and 50 shot.At least thats all he says.Anyway we line up from take off its all me,shift into second, all me then i throw it in third and he starts coming quick, when i throw it in fourth i was at at his back door and hes pullin so i back off! I wasn't dissapointed but it was a good run and he wants to do it again since i wasn't a full bottle,i raced like five people before i got with him.whats a good mod to get next because the max can't keep racing with a spec v being able to beat him out here in h-town.I'm running injen cai, the 75 shot nx, and act stage 2 clutch. No y-pipe because i ordered one in the group deal but someone broke in my car and jacked my stuff and even my y-pipe from the trunk, but i'm getting a new one soon.Help fellow max owners!!

I raced a 2004 Spec V last night in Centerville Drag (1000 ft) we ran nearly identical times.

He was running cold air intake, header, and Greddy exhaust
Last time i was at the track I could run only low 13.0xx, but since I changed the plugs and installed my ebay cold air I ran in the high 12's. I have a 1996 GLE automatic cold air, y-pipe, drop resistor mod.

He said he wasn't on juice but I don't know how those are really supposed to run

There was someone there in a fifth gen max but was disappointed when they only ran a mid 14. must have been a 2000 or 2001 model.

You run 12's in an AUTO max? How is that possible if all you have is a y, drop mod, and CAI? Nevermind.

wait you're a 5spd with a 75shot NX and you lost to a spec v with a 50shot?

Thats what I was thinking. With a 75 shot I wouldve bet money that the max would pull him. Guess those 19's are hurting him.
The Y pipe is a must for the max to gain more power.

Did you all see his reply? It's a 1000 ft track. That's kinda weird. It's about 1/5th of a mile.

Also, there are plenty of turbo max's still in the 13s. I think that's what he's saying. Not that they can't get into the 12's, because some do, but that there's maximas with turbos, which are a much more substantial upgrade than pipe/cai/drop resistor that still can't run 12s, so it's not realistic for a guy with such minimal mods to run that fast.

1. Did you see the post i was replying to?

2. Of course there are gonna be turbo maxes that don't run 12's. That depends alot on how much they're boosting, if they can get traction, etc. He was saying it like there's never been a 12 second turbo max...

You should be faster than him with the addition of a y-pipe. I'm thinking you should even be faster than him with what you're running right now. Mod for mod the 4th gen is slightly faster than a Spec V. Slap in the y-pipe and let us know what happens.

I know this is not my place to post but, Yesterday I raced my friends 03 Spec-V. We both had CAI and various little mods. from 20 to 100 I pulled on him about a car length. mabye more, I was not paying attention. Although he kept up in 1st and the begining of second. But after that it was pretty much over.

Yeah, that's why I said "Did you ALL". Meaning everybody still speculating on the distance. It wasn't directed at anybody in particular.

second things open to interpretation, I guess. It didn't sound to me like that. It just sounded like he was saying that most turbo'd max aren't even in the 12s, and so it's not logical for a light bolt on max to be. But it doesn't matter. No big deal.

Told you so. Y-pipe will certainly ease the pain. If not, put you even.

I'd get headers if you can get them installed for a reasonable price. Everyone who has them seems to like them (at least the Cattman offering). But you should decide on that before you spend $ on a Y-pipe since the headers also replace your Y-Pipe. After that maybe a UDP or more nitrous.

the headers on the Spec V do a lot more than the headers for max, from what I have seen.
Headers and other stuff(let alone spraying) on a 04 Spec V is nothing to laugh at. They are just so light and quick.
