use a mulitmeter to diagnose bad knock sensor?

i think i remember reading that a multi-meter could be used to tell if your knock sensor is good or bad.
does anyone know for sure, how to do this, i already bought and installed a new sensor, but i want to check it if the old one could be reused.
The computer was throwing the knock sensor code, so i changed it, but sh*t was expensive.

thanks

It still might not solve your problem. Even if ti reads 500k ohms or around there, the KS might still be bad.

Yessir. Happened to me. I measured my knock sensor resistance a couple of times a couple of weeks apart and it came out at 550 kohms some times and infinite at other times. I eventually replaced it because I kept on getting recurring 0304 codes, and I'm glad I did. Quite a noticeable improvement in part throttle acceleration.

Same thing with me. I checked it everyday for a week and got 554k ohm every time yet I still got the ghost code. Replaced the KS but noticed ABSOLUTELY NO difference in driving, power, fuel economy. Next week, intake manifold comes off to get to the damn EGR system.

Could be the knock sensor harness.
