dealer says MAF can not be cleaned????

Confused..the dealer refused to clean the MAF sensor for me today. I don't have the time to do it myself so thats why i went to the dealer to get it done...but he said since it's an self contained eletrical unit..you can not clean it...
is this true?
I know some people on the forum have cleaned their's and have seen improved response times..I wanna do it too

The MAF is a very sensitive sensor, so if it's blown it would make much more sense for the dealer to replace it. Those that clean it, use alcohol on a q-tip but with they do it very carefully. The dealer wouldn't/shouldn't clean your meter because they don't want to deal with the liability. If you think yours is blown just get it replaced. Mine was under $200 for parts and labor.

Sure you're not thinking about the throttle body? Cleaning the throttle body is a good idea and many dealers do that as part of routine service (at least mine does), but trying to clean the MAF is very risky. There's no way a dealer would attempt to do so -- there's a very good chance of ruining it.

Yup, same one (was called Nissan West, now Norris Nissan West). I actually like
Tischer Nissan in Laurel a little better, but I go to Norris Nissan West since
it's more convenient (5 miles away whereas Tischer is 15).
