Anyone have anything on replacing a Rack and Pinion.

Anyone have anything on replacing a Rack and Pinion.
So my car is leaking from the rack. Took it to the Nissan dealer and they want $1200.00 for the rack alone! $1600.00 for a complete job.
So, yeah... that's not happening. Went to Auto Zone got one for $228.xx and having a friend/Excellent Service Tech. put it in for me for WAY CHEAPER.
I just wanted to know if anyone has some sort of write ups online. He is prob. fine with out the info, but I just figured anything I could find would be helpful.
