Smells like rotten eggs?

I was just taliking to my uncle who has a 98 se and he was telling me how much he loves the car, except for the fact that sometimes when he accelerates he smells rotten eggs?

From what I have heard, the rotten egg smell can be attributed to a bad cat. converter. At least thats what I have heard.

Pretty sure that's what a bad cat smells like (the exhaust kind, not the kind that gets stuck under your car because it was sleeping in the driveway ).

*Edit* Guess I took to long to post, two out of two though, we're probably right.

when my clutch was on it's last legs it smelt like that horribly. is his car a 5speed?

a clutch will only smell like that if it is hardcore slipping, like will only engage for another fifteen feet.

Its more likely to be the cat, especially since its only an occasional problem

You might ought to try some of that femenine deoderant spray if your cat smells bad. he he....

They are right....it is probably the cat converter.
