I am ordering a B&M STS today from southwest and i was wondering if anyone has any good tips or comments on the install

in the write up it says to dent the shield, it didn't have to be done with mine. the cat and y-pipe don't NEED to be removed but it would be easier, i did it by just lubing the hangers and slipping them off w/ a pry bar. loosened the heat shield and slid it back as far as i could get it. umm, that's all i can think of right now, but my install went smoothly and the car still shifts great. if i remember anything i'll let ya know.

Masaccio just installed it on his car and it went very smoothly. Just follow the instructions. We did not dent the heat sheild and it doesn't rattle at all. We put on a budget y at the same time so that made it much easier.

You will not be disappointed with the B&M.

No denting of heat shield necessary and the shifter does not come close to hitting the console, despite the rumors to the contrary. It's a little farther forward than stock but that's a tiny issue.

 

i've got the b & m, and i am very happy with it. actually, it starts to feel like a long throw too, after a while. i am just used to it. if i went back to stock, i am sure i would hate it.

 

that's no problem man. just let me know when you want to put it in, and we can run down to the shop, stick her on a hoist and get busy. let me know.

Make sure yours doesnt make a big clunking sound when you shift.. Mine sounds like its hitting some metal... I slammed my hand on the top of my shift **** with my fist and it goes "clunkk" I was like wtf! It does the same thing in nuetral and reverse.

Probably because the control rod is hitting the cat heat sheild.

 

I dont have a cat shield. I have a high flow cat.. the stock heat shield would not fit over it..

 

Which cat shield don't you have? The one above or below the cat?

The heat shield i'm talking about is what sits in between the body of the car and the cat. It sits on top of the cat. You might have to put a dent in it to make enough room for the shifter assembly.
