Idler Pulley help
I have an '84 Maxima wagon...nicknamed the "Batmobile" by my daughter, heh, heh, heh...
My question...is the bearing replaceable in the idler pulley? The one I am looking for is for the power steering belt. The cheapest I could find the actual assembly is $65...seems kind of spendy for an idler pulley...I was told by a dealer that the bearing is not replaceable, but I question that as I have seen the bearing listed on a website but with no actual description to confirm it.
If so, what is the procedure for replacing it and where is the best place to find it? I did find a bearing here:
http://www.rockauto.com/dbphp/mak%2CNISSAN%2C1984
By the way...great forum!...Thanks!

Yes, the bearings in the idler pulleys can be replaced.
For example...
I used a bearing made by NSK (Japan). The part # is 6203DU2.
I called NSK here in Indianapolis at 317-247-4724. Their toll-free # (in Ann Arbor, MI) is 800-675-9930. They gave me a list of local parts outlets. I picked up one for less than $10.
