1 Year since I got my 03 Max - 51,734 miles...rants and raves

Well this date marks a year since I got my Maxima. Overall, I am very pleased with the car. Going into the deal I knew I would be placing alot of miles on the car as with my job I drive at least 800 miles a week and if you can do the math I do alot of personal driving too. This is my first new car which I am very grateful for my job and being able to do such with only being 22 years old. For those of you that don't know my car it is a 03 Gray Lustre auto, cloth, TE (wheels, shift ****, sills, steering wheel, etc.) It was an 03 leftover when I got it and I paid roughly $25,700 for it and the sticker was $28,800. Looking back I most likely would have not purchased this car but instead gotten the true 03 TE Max which was 1 of 5 left FS still new at the time. But I was unaware of the full details of the TE package exclusive to 03 and decided against paying $4 or $5k more for leather, 6spd, meridian, and that cool titanium paint. Yes please feel free to Stupid me. Anyway....life goes on. Being that I have so many miles on my max and have driven it through just about any type of weather I feel I have a good basis on which to rate different likes/dislikes of the vehicle. So here goes.
Top 5 Dislikes:
1. Crapotenzas....almost killed myself many times doing LESS than speed limit in the rain and not to mention snow/ice.
2. Bose 6disc...I'm currently on my 3rd unit.
3. Wish my auto truly had 255hp.
4. Ugly Orange lighting. (Turn signals, side markers, etc.)
5. HIDS look awesome...all the rest of the OEM lighting looks like crap compared to it.
Top 5 Likes:
1. HIDs....never go without them again.
2. Bose 6disc..when its working.
3. Ride quality....51,734 miles..this is a nice ride.
4. Steering wheel controls, multi function keyfob.
5. OEM 17" Polished Wheels one of the nicest factory wheels I know of.

Thats enough for now...let me know your guys thoughts.

Well what'd you expect? It's an SE(aka 'sports edition) and it clearly states in the brochure that it has a stiffer suspension for handling. Inspite of that, I find the ride in mine very comfortable except when going over large bumps.

Dang! The lot of miles. My 02 Max only has ~17.1K miles on it! It's gotten a lot less use since I now have the Z.

My Maxima GXE has a very smooth but the suspension is a rather soft. I haven't driven in an SE, but I've ridden in my friend's 2000 Maxima SE a few times and although it's a bit bumpier than my GXE, it's not that bad.

If you want a REALLY rough ride, try out a non-touring trim 350Z. The Max is SILKY SMOOTH in comparison. In the Z you REALLY get bounced around a lot. The reason why I mention touring is that I've heard touring is softer but I've never driven one for very long.

1. Change your tires. After 50k miles, I bet there isnt much tread left. Get Falken Ziex-512 in 225/50/17 (OE size).
2. No comment (buy aftermarket headunit maybe?)
3. Time to get juiced.
4. Get clear corners and remove the orange lens.
5. You know you could change the bulbs with PIAA Xtreme White right?

I can't talk much since I rang up that many miles on my '02 before I let it go.

I was talking about my car in stock form.
1. I've replaced the crapotezas a LONG time ago with Pirelli PZero Nero M+S 245/45/17.
2. I love my stereo....when it works.
3. My fault for getting the auto.
4. I have clear corners and am installing clear lenses when I install my angel eyes and also changing taillights.
5. My clearance lights have LEDs.
