Max does not want to start without applying gas pedal...

Especially when cold... It used to start by just turning the key.... Now I have to put my foot on the gas pedal and press it in order for the car to start... Is that something with the starter? ? ? ?

Any help is appreciated...

Try the following:

1. Clean out the throttle body
2. Clean out the IACV
3. Replace the ECTS - this provides a signal to the ECU during start up (about a cold/hot engine) and controls the fuel mixture during startup... (this part is about 30 bucks from either the dealer or Autozone etc.).

I agree. Most likely the Throttle body needs cleaning. Should improve your mpg also.

with a rash of starter issues lately, it might just be it! my car was acting similarly before the starter died.

but, if I were you, I'd start on the easy and cheap fixes listed above first...

good luck,

also check all of the stickies-it looks like nissan feels it is normal to have to use the acclerator to start a cold engine.

Who's Alex? Try this. Turn the key to on, wait for the BEEPING to stop and turn on the car. Even if that works get a new fuel filter, pour some techron or seafoam in the tank, might as well put some ATf into the spark plug holes.

How does it run when warm? Okay?? If so then it's something to do with the engine's cold start program.

Do what the guy said above. It's what I would recommend.

The TB has a little airbypass hole to allow air around the TB plate when it's closed. If that's blocked, that might also prevent the engine from starting when you have the foot off the gas pedal. So if you clean the TB, make sure to spray a bunch of fluid into this little hole. I'd probably take off the TB to clean it at this point
