Ebay Intakes - Which is what knockoff?

Hey, I'm confused. When I look on Ebay, I don't know which CAI is a knockoff on what. ie either Injen or Place Racing. Can anyone help me identify which is which?

I suppose I'm trying to find a Place Racing CAI since that's a true intake, but I'm afraid of hydrolocking. Is there a bypass valve that can be bought for these Ebay intakes?

Does anyone have any experience with these in terms of the sound they got from them and your general satisfaction (slight increase in power?) etc.

Thoughts would be appreciated.

I dont know really how to tell. I bought one from EBAY that had a longer and more curved pipe. I cut a hole in the fender and it fit perfectly. I still dont know if it was meant for that. There were no instructions or a template for cutting the hole. But everything worked out.
As for the water issue, you pretty much have to drive in water that is over your tire. Simple: Don't drive through huge puddles.
I don't feel any difference, performance wise, with my CAI. I actually think that I had better throttle response with the stock air box.
It makes a loud "growling" noise above 3000 rpms. Its pretty cool. Not too loud but not too quiet either.

I know that if the part that gets the hoses attached to it is curved, then the intake is injen style. If it is straight then it is most likely place racing style.

Why don't you give a link to the one that you are thinking about?

And how do you like it - any bottom end power increase, does it make a good growl, etc.

I have injen style too. I got it from motorcypha on ebay for like 40 bucks I think.

People around these boards bash the injen style a lot because it places the filter near the radiator causing hot air to be sucked into the intake.

After installing the intake I noticed no performance difference at all. The engine does sound really nice when you floor it or go above 3000rpms though.

If I could do it over again I would try a place racing style intake just to make sure that cooler air would be drawn into the engine. Probably doens't make that much of a difference though.

get the ebay place racing one, theres less risk of hyrolock then the injen one, and the PR is a REAL CAI not "fake" like injen design, which BTW is in fact right next to a ton of exhaust and radiator heat.

I have the ebay PR.
