Crazy to replace the whole dash?
Crazy to replace the whole dash?
I was looking for a 97-99 console, because frankly my cup 95/96 cup holders bite the big one.
During my search I found a guy selling the entire dash (as well as the console) from a 97 for about $50. Now, my dash has a bunch of scratches in it, and I thought to myself, 'swap in the new one'?
I can imagine it's a decent amount of work (gonna have to consult the service manual at least), but...
Has anyone ever taken their dash out before?

I have seen how to take the entire dash out in the Haynes Manual and it does not seem hard, but it does seem like it will take some time. Go for it, you will prob learn some things about your car.
doable, but VERY time consuming. Plus u need a friend or two to help manhandle the dash. I'd expect the whole process to take you a week of working a couple hours a night. or a whole weekend of 2 or 3 people working at it.
it is very simple i did it with no directions to 3 maximas in one weekend working on them from 8 in the morning to 11 at night 2 days straight. all three cars gutted and 2 of them i totally put together the other i didnt have to bc it was orginally m,y parts car until i sold the hole thing to my buddy shawn. the dash is not heavy at all i did most of it all by myself i can tell you pretty much where every bolt is in there. and which ones are not needed to take out. It was absolutly fun and alls i can say is have a blast but it shouldnt take you no longer than 2 to 3 hours to get the dash out seriously.
