when i did my beat set-up i ran new speaker wire 2 my 4 speakers. its 18gauge home speaker wire. i get no problem with them. but i was just wondering if its the right way. casue i seen theirs a lil plastic mixed with the speaker wire.

 

it will work fine, but it's a bit small for my personal taste. i'd run at least 16 gauge.

 

if you're running HU power(40-50W), you'll be fine with 18ga. It not a lot of power to go 10-15ft max. If you're amping it(100W+), then you may have wanted bigger wire. The "home speaker wire" is fine....speaker wire is speaker wire.

 

noo... i got a 300 watts amp running my speakers. so i should up grade then?

 

yes, upgrade to a thicker wire

 

300 watts? so ur running 50 - 75 watts to a speaker, no need to upgrade the wire

16 gauge from walmart is perfet.

 

RI-max...I was in Job Lot the other day. They had some decent 14ga speaker wire cheap. you might want to check it out.
