Stops pulling around 3400 RPM?

Hi everyone,

My 5 spd seems to run fine, I have a bone stock 2000 GXE with a drop in K&N air filter only. I am the second owner, it has 65K. The car pulls like crazy up to around 3400 RPM, then you can feel a change, almost as if the cam profile changed to something less aggressive, and the car stops pulling, changing to a smoother/slower acceleration. There's no bucking, just a slight SOTP change. Does this in all gears. I can't imagine valve float or anything like that at such a low RPM. Maybe coil pack(s) that are going south, but not enough to throw a code?

Thanks!

I had the same problem as you described on mine w/o any codes, after doing all kinds stuff the problem was solved by cleaning my air flow meter (MAF)....

Great, sounds like a plan, and thanks. I cleaned that sucker a year ago, but it may be ready for another one. If it works, I may buy a new one, but I've still got 35K left on the warranty, and suspect MAF's for this are at least $100.
