Lower control Arm for 88' Maxima SE

Hello guys,

I just found out that the local Nissan dealer wants $160 for a front lower control arm, $320 for both. (they confused me with Donald Trump, I guess.

Does someone know where can you get new lower control arms for reasonable price? The front bushings on both arms are shot and I am shaving my two new front tires while I am driving to and from work, not mentioning that my car now have a tendency to go whereever the loose control arms want to.

You can just buy new bushings from the Nissan dealer too. I think for all 4 bushings around $60. You will need to figure out a way to press them in or take them to a shop. It doesn't look that hard to do. I bought the bushings but never installed them yet.

Yeah both front and rear tires wear out on the inside real bad on my 86se. Worse on the rears. Have to replace all the struts too. (conversion to regular) Just too lazy to think about all that work.

Lets see, motor mounts too, $$$$

Good luck

Al

try car-part.com its a huge junkyard network....I have found that site really helpful....even if you cant find your part listed it will give you contacts of junkyards in your area, so you can go check out the cars your self

I think I'm gonna need to do new bushings as well on the control arm, as well as the FSB. That's what I think is clunking around when I stop or accelerate. You can feel in in the floor board on both the driver and passenger front seat. Hell, my whole front end probably needs work, not including struts and springs.

Yes, you only need to do the bushings...the front bush is the only one that needs to be pressed in, and there is no way to do it on a arbor press...you will need to use extreme heat and cold to get the parts together...I will look around, and find the link that explains how to do it in your drive way, with an oven and a freezer...

as for the parts, I bought Beck/Arnley parts from Parts America...when I got them, the box was a Beck/Arnley box, but the bag inside holding the bushing was a Nissan bag, with the Nissan part number on them. They only ran me about $23 per side - these come as a set, front and rear bushing together...

i'm almot positive the clunking from underneat the floor board are the stablizer bar bushings, but all of mine are shot, i mean all, there either dry or shredded....

i'm going to go with neoprene

Neoprene? Where can you fine that? What advantages would it have over polyurethane ones? I'd be interested since I'm due for new bushings.

Also, does anyone know where to get new bushings for the RSB support brackets? Mine seem to be a little warn. I can get a little play out of my RSB, but not much.

rear sway bar mounts... if it's for the mounts to body section (those 2 donuts per side thingy), you can get some of those universal ones from energy suspension... and usually autozone stocks them for trucks stabilizer links.. last I check big wheel (in Kent, WA) got them as well. Price is around $20 retail if not mistaken..

its supposed to be a stiffer bushing reducing body roll, one of the guys at work said he'd hook me up with some

Interesting, if you do get them, let me know how much they are and how well they work. I might be interested in a set myself.

so basicly i have been looking for something for months that doesent even exist...and asked all over the place (like here) so now that i know what they are they arent any thing special

no wonder it sounds familiar..

i wonder about delrin bushings..saw a set of it mounted on an old mustang last week.. it's supposed to be solid while self lubricating..more expensive then full metal bushings I think.
