I'm running cleared out rears, and that tiny 194 bulb which is supposed to be red is not. It looks pink. I dont know where I got the bulb from, but its probably just a painted bulb. but where can I get one that is actually red.. or maybe even a LED replacement... any ideas?

Eric, I think your problem lies not within the bulbs themselves >>

but in the fact that the lenses are truly clear. They are actually white (and white and red make pink), since they are molded that way with etching in them. '97+ models have "clear" headlights...in that case, putting in red bulbs would produce "red" light. That's why all those punks driving around in those Civics that have completely white tailights, have pink light at night.

Try a LED from radio shack!

Buy a LED from radio shack and put plug it in. This should be more RED.

Hmm, now heres an idea. Funny part is I work at radio shack. Its worth a try I guess. Most the LED's I have seen have pretty narrow viewing patterns though. Anyway I gotta first figure out what resistor to use so I dont melt the LED when I apply 12 volts to the beast.

The heat from the bulb will actually fade the color of the bulbs, it has done it with mine. But, if they are relatively new, then I have no idea. For my reverse lights, I painted them blue using Testors model car paint. Works great, but i needed to repaint them after about 8 months.
