Taking off Pinstriping
FIRST: Determine if your pinstriping is PAINTED on. If it's tape, proceed. If not, then I'm not sure how you get it off.
SECOND: Start with the area near the front corner light, heating up the area with a hair dryer. Slowly pick a corner off and begin pulling backwards VERY slowly, heating as you go. Stop at a couple of inches back. Heat the next 2" or so. Peel some more.
THIRD: Once you get it peeled off this way, you can get some of the icky residue off with either body clay + Meguiar's QuikDetailer followed by waxing (since the clay takes off the wax).

I was wondering if there was an easy way to take it off without damaging the paint?
Thanks

pin stripe removal
I removed the pin striping off of my Dodge Ram using some hot water from one of those instant hot water faucets, I think it heats it to like 190F. I just poured some on and then grabbed the end and slowly pulled it off, mine was a double striper. I then used some polishing compound to remove any residue, now it looks real fine.

I keep telling Dan he has to double box them, but I think he
was running low. We have some heavy cardboard inserts on order for them which will enable them to take more of a beating, UPS is really hard on them, the Post Office not as bad. Make sure the gaskets are there, if not let me know and I'll send out some new ones. Let me know how it goes.
That really does work on the pinstriping, I just wish Jeep did not clear coat over the pinstripes as I would love to take them off of it too. I like my vehicles solid black.

Hello.
I removed the pinstripe from my car recently.
On one side, I just peeled it off. It was tedious, because the tape kept breaking. But, there was very little sticky stuff left over, and it came off with some WD-40.
On the other side, I used a blow dryer to heat it, as I peeled it off. This is where the nightmare begins.
The heat helped to get the pinstriping off faster, but it left a lot of sticky stuff behind. I tried goo-gone & WD-40, but nothing would get it out. So, I went to AutoZone to try to find something else.
While I was there, some nosy guy overheard me asking for help and told me that Clay-Lube would get it out. He then told me that he would go get some from his "body shop" around the corner. I thought nothing of it and continued looking around.
So, the guy comes back with a little container of some clear liquid and what looked like some clay and starts rubbing it on my car. I told him to stop, and that it wasn't working. He then spreads some on my door and starts rubbing it even harder. After he's done, he wipes off the excess and shows me the white haze he left behind.
I was pissed! I told him off and made him leave.
Now I got all these scratch marks all over the door. It's really hazy white.
Please, someone tell me that there is something that will get the haze out. I'm thinking about using a rubbing compound, or taking it to a carwash to get it waxed and buffed.
Please give me some advice.
Thanks...

here's what I did...
heated up the pinstripe with a hair dryer and tried to pull it off, what wouldn't pull off I scraped off with a credit card.
after i got the strip off, the goo remained. I used meguiars paint cleaner step 1 to go over the goo and get it off, took some elbow grease to get it off, but I believe it's safer on the paint than wd-40... i would never let that stuff touch my paint... after I got everything off I went back over where the paint cleaner was used with wax... looks perfect

I just did mine and I was amazed how easy it took mine off (no pun intended) I was a bit leary at first, but they came off beautifully with no damage to my paint whatsoever.
Do it on a nice day, so you have the ability to wash and wax your car shortly afterward.

He recommends letting it stand for 2-3 minutes, but I found myself having to respray it to get it all off. I ended up waiting 5-8 minutes or so and it seemed to do the trick.
