ECU Upgrade and advance timing upgrade question

I'll be getting a JWT ECU in the upcoming weeks (thanx chris91se) and I know about what it does. Now I was about to have my timing advance 2-3 degrees on Wednesday but what I want to know is will I run into problems if I leave it at 17-18 degrees and then the ECU upgrade advances the timing also??

put it back to stock base timing...the JWT unit is set to work off 15 BTDC.

a tad OT but...
can't we only adjust our timing by 5deg. increments?

Pulley is marked in 5 deg increments but doesn't mean you can't adjust inbetween those marks.

Silly Canadians again.

put your timing back to stock when running a JWT ECU. also when you finally get it make sure you run premium fuel...

this is kinda hard for me to explain, but ah well...I'll take a shot...this is my take on it. if its at 20 then that would throw it off...all of their ajustments are made from base 15*(stock timing maps)...so say you put it at 20* combined with the JWT advanced adjustments early and midway thorugh the RPM band, the result would be the values being waaaaaaaaaay too high and possibly dangerous. if you look at most stock timing maps you can see that they are REALLY hot(sometimes up to ~40*) in the low end and cool off as you progress into the top. so say you start with 20*, then apply the JWT advanced values....timing at low end will shoot through the roof and theres a good chance you'll detonate out the butthole. I'll put up the timing maps I run later and you can see what I mean

this is my curent n/a program fo the teg...Dinian fuel/ign values, 7300 rev limit, with my own little tuning twist. vacuum across the top, rpm down the left...thats based off stock honda timing. so imagine haveing the Maxima timing at 20(rather than 15) and then applying a major timing advance especially in the lower RPM columns....unless I'm way off in my thinking I see trouble. I wish this program had map trace, then you could see the actual progression of timing along the map with the car accelerating through the powerband
