Just hit that mileage yesterday. Seeing as how I bought the car from the first owner at 78k a month ago, and also considering he was running the original set of brakes that came with the car (along with a front right rotor that was completely worn away, and 3 dead calipers) I think I should comb through the entire car and check for any other things this guy overlooked.

Things that were bad:
Sludged oil, original set of plugs that came with the car, original air filter that came with the car, 3 dead brake calipers, all brakes almost completely worn, rotted through right brake cable, exhaust leak in pipes, rotted muffler, driver's door doesn't open.

Things fixed:
oil change and flush, new NGK plugs (damn you to hell, Bosch.), new air filter, replaced 2 of the 3 seized calipers, new brakes all around, new rotor, new fuel filter

Gonna go and get a new O2 sensor from the dealer today, and try to install the PCV valve if I can ever find the damn thing in the intake manifold (could anyone point me in the direction of a picture of the valve while its installed in the car?).

Any specific systems I should be checking? Other than a the car being loud (which I've pinpointed at the exhaust leak), there seems to be no problems, but I rather be proactive than reactive when it comes to car troubles.

I've actually noticed that there are times when I maintain a given speed, the car will start to loss speed, and when I hit the accelerator, the engine doesn't get the power in that it should. This happens sporadically however. Could this be a tranny fluid problem? Came up pink on inspection, but the first owner never drove the car (maybe 2k miles a year in the past 10 years).

Thanks for any help you can provide.

The PCV valve is on the firewall side of the intake manifold....it is pretty much right in the middle. It screws into the manifold, and has a hose hooked up to it.
As far as maintence: the timing belt should be changed ever 60K, and other than that, I have never had a car with that few miles...but most of mine have been in better shape than what you are describing. I would deff. change all of the fluids if the car has been sitting so much....then after that I would just fix things when they break. My .02
