Anybody with a placeracing intake help....

I read a thread and the person changed his cai setup to a wai setup with the placeracing intake and got some good gains.. But there is a O2 sensor on the lower piping and without the lower pipe what do u do with the loose sensor??
Also he attached the filter directly to the MAF, could that damage anything ??Please help... If anybody has pics of this wai setup please post ... thanks

what you do is use the stock intake part that the sensor was in.

You are basically looking at our setup. Except that our piping is polished aluminum instead of mild steel. We use the same filters as PR as well.

yeah like that but he want's to know about the temp. sensor. See where the red part is you put the sensor back on to that. air will go through it and adjust accordingly.

It would measure the heat of engine bay so I would say it make the ECU think your getting hot air instead of cold air.

so if i install the stock front air duct where the temp sensor originally belong too, and continue the wai setup you think i 'll get any check engine problems?

isn't anybody else wondering how you gain performance from swapping out the cool air intake setup...I can't imagine how a WAI setup for a Place Racing Intake could gain any performance whatsoever over the cool air setup...if anything make it slower

You won't get a SES. When I had the PRCAI I did the same thing and nothing went wrong.

All you have to do is to do it like the Berk pipe picture above. Works out fine.

Hmm. I might try out my new (used) PR CAI in a WAI layout like that. It'd remove the crap from the engine bay and give me some time to examine the area before cutting the hole.

There was a debate on if the extra bends in the CAI lower was robbing power than just the intake on the upper part. Seems like the difference is zero.

The CAI with lower made better gains on the low end and on really hot days and the upper was sometimes better at WOT. Either way no big difference.

I have went back and forth and no real difference,

BTW when I was using CAI with out the lower I zipped tied the sensor in front of the filter.

When I bought my Max brand new, 1st mod I did to it was JWT POP charger- only had it for 4 days. I let the intake air temp just lay next to the battery for over a year. Make sure its connected and you won't get a Check engine light. On 02-03 Maximas the sensor is built into the MAF.
