I'm having trouble keeping the stock intake sticking together.
It seems very loose, and I was wondering if it's just because I'm missing the plastic elbow or do I need a clamp that I'm missing?

Did you tighten the hose clamps? Are all the bolts on?

 

It's not the section with the hose clamps. It's the "ram air" section attached to the grill (the connection is rectangular with rounded edges). It attaches to the air filter box.

 

Oh, ok. I've never touched the scoop before, sorry I wouldn't know.

 

Nothing clamps on in that area, it just slips on.

 

That scoop's a pain in the ****. Try removing the collar, wrapping some duct-tape around a couple sides, and forcing it back onto the scoop. On my stock setup that kept the collar from pulling off. Scoop is still a little "loose", but it's sealed much better.

 

It seems like it's just held on there with the rotten foam that fell apart when I installed the Frankencar mid-pipe.

I think I'll scrounge up an elbow. Maybe that will help. Would Dave B. have that, as well as the foam tape?

It seems like that whole front of the intake is just one piece shoved into another. My elbow went flying off when I was driving down the highway (after I put the mip-pipe on I didn't think to remove it).

Thanks for the duct tape advice...that stuff works for everything.
