I know there is stuff on the maxima.org mainpage showing what types of intakes are available but I wanted to know from personal experience what Intake you guys think I should get. I have someone to install it but Im kinda curious what type of shops do intall these kind of things? Could you just take it to any place like Midas, or Mineke or places like that or would you have to take it to a specialized place? I have always wondered that. Anyway any info on the best Intake I should get would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

if you want a CAI you're only option is Place Racing CAI. if u just want a normal intake(adapter & filter) u can get a Stillen or JWT. i have a JWT intake its the same as Stillen except the Stillen is CARB exempt which means you don't have to take it out when u do smog test i think. i don't know about the CAI but the "hot" air intakes are easy to install.

We've been going over and over this for a long time. Basically, what it comes down to is get whatever intake you like and fits your budget. There arent significant power difference between any of them. Personally I do the OSCAI setup. Also, this is something you can install yourself. It's not worth the time and $$ to have someone do it for you.

CARB exempt

I didnt know that you had to take the JWT Intake off when you get a smog test? I assume smog test is the same as emissions test. I just put on my JWT Intake shortly after I had an emissions test. I usually get my emissions tests and state inspection where at the Nissan dealer where i purchased my car.

Does CARB approval just apply to California? Im in Virginia, and i dont understand why i would need to remove my JWT because its not CARB approved if structurally it's the exact same as the Stillen.

Ive never heard of people failing an emissions test due to having a SI/JWT Intake.

This maybe a question for Daniel B.

Buy the JWT, its the exact same as the Stillen and its cheaper.

Yes CARB only applies in California. In VA, do they do a thourough under hood inspection...or just a tailpipe sniffer? Either way, ask the tech before he does the test, that way you can go home and take it off before you fail.
