2000 tranny and exedy stage one are in
This is a delayed post since the org went down yesterday as 11pm.
Well the 2000 tranny (only 2k miles
) and the exedy stage one are in and I couldn't be happier. This thing is SOOOOOOO smooth...I can't wait to put in the B&M. The shifter does sit farther back just like everybody says (the B&M should help with this). The forward facing gears (1,3,5) seem to sit about were neutral used to be. As far as the clutch, it actually requires LESS pedal effort, though I expect this will not be true once is begins to wear. It does seem to grip better, but I can't really get on it until the break in is over
. Also the engagement point is a bit lower which will take some getting used to.
As some side notes to any who are thinking of putting a 5th gen tranny in a 4th gen: I used 4th gen axles (which many have already done). Here's the kicker...I used the 5th gen speed sensor (in the past everyone has used 4th gen). The only 4th gen sensor I used was the crankshaft position sensor which is sort of between the tranny/engine mating surface and didn't come with the tranny.
I would like to thank everybody who has helped me with this whole process, particularly mishmosh and liquidvenom for help with the 5th gen tranny issue; ceasar, optimus and maxtank for their help with the clutch; and nitromax for his help with the rear main seal problems I had. If I have forgotten anybody I deeply apologize, I am unable to access the thread I had on this, so those are the people I remember as being particularly helpful.

Often lower mileage (the main reason). Not really a price difference. Doesn't have the diffy bearing problem (a 98-99 would fit the bill too here). Supposedly has a stronger 3rd gear.
