What remote starter are you using?

I was planning to buy a remote starter for my 2k maxima. Anyone have some suggestions? Anyone have bad experiences with a remote starter?
Thanks!

Clifford IntelliStart 4. Really not much to a remote start except that in the Maxima (and most new cars) you need to bypass the key in the chip. The way most remote starter companies usually have a transponder device where you must place one of your keys. The problem with that is that if a theif finds that key they can start your car. In my situation where I got it done over four years ago they didn't have the transponders available so we removed a chip from one of the keys (the blue part) and placed it near the receiver bypasssing that security feauture but relying on the alarms (Clifford IntelliGuard 7000) security features. Good luck.

Hey guy,

I'm trying to figure out where the blue part is that you are talking about. I have an 03 and want to do the same thing without giving up my key.

If anyone else knows where the chip is, please let me know.

Thank You

I have PowerStart 2ways FM good for 5000 feets, i have all function in there even temperature....i like it alot because when i don't see it i always know if something happen, it's alert me like a pager.
I suggest for you to buy a alarm that have 2ways AM or FM, FM is more precise and more expensive.

I was referring to a 2000 key where the chip is "removable." I've never seen a 2003 key but I bet it is different and the chip is in the key and not "removable." What you could do is get a new key cut for $2 and use that as your other key while using the chipped key in the transponder.

Any remote starter should work, but I would recommend an alarm. The Clifford piece that I had was a module that "supplements" the alarm and could be use as a standalone. Best Buy and the like will sell just the remote start modules for around $150 + installation.

Same here...Love it...I really love the fact that you can remote start the car so far away (High Range). Gives the car a little more time to warm up.

791xv here as well. No problems at all. The whole gitup was $300. 2 530t's, 791xv, 555u, and the extra remote. I love getting into a nice cool car everyday.

When I get out, I just leave it on. The ac that is. I forgot to mention the mini piezo as well. You can get them for $12 on ebay and can hook up as many as three to the 791 w/o taxing it.

I have my factory alarm also hooked up. The interior siren, under hood siren, and the factory horns all go off. The Viper flashes all the exterior lights that the factory doesn't. It's a freakin light show.
