Dropped the Max! I did it! Pics inside!

Before:

After:

The drop is still settling, obviously, so results will vary in about 2 days. The drop is Maxspeeds with Toki Blues. Impressions will follow in the next post.

Impressions: Goodness...where do I start? People aren't kidding when they say it's like driving a new car. The handling of the car improves ten fold. First off, the Toki Blues absord rising bumps *much smoother* than the OEM struts. I'm talking about bumps like school bumps/humps and the like. Pot hole bumps are more or less the same, thing -- it's not a very easy aspect of shock absorbancy to improve, so it's ok.

What's it like when taking turns, though? Mmmm...heavenly. Body roll? Gone. The car doesn't feel like it's swimming from side to side anymore. I started tossing the car around sharply around the neighborhood and it felt incredible. My body stayed in the center of the seat and the car's body didn't shift one bit. You guys who haven't dropped have no idea how much more enjoyable the car gets once you drop it a bit. Not getting tossed around in the car anymore is a slice of heaven. No joke.

Everyone must get this done to their ride. Just frigin' do it.

Falken's are still on backorder! I've been waiting forever now. Vulcan Tire said they were def. gonna' ship them on Friday. But nothing. I'm calling them tomorrow, cause I had no time today, being busy with the Max and all.

Yeah man. Congrats. I know you've been waiting to get that done for a long time. The handling is definitely a lot better. Gone is the "floaty boat" feeling. I know exactly what you're talking about.

Damn...seriously, I love my car. I was just driving around for 30 minutes around the area. I was tossing the car left and right left and right.

Arnold, not sure if you've picked one up yet or not, but if you're happy with the new feel of your car, you may want to add a rear sway bar as well. Couldn't remember if you mentioned whether you had one or not, but I would definately recommend one if you don't already.

Car looks good

Looks clean (and they will lower a little bti more). BTW, what are those things on the side of your bumper? CHrome accents? Are they molded in? Oh yeah, paint your calipers... even with some cheapo engine enamel paint. I promise you it will look better.

Nah, they're just bumper guards. I recently had my front and back bumpers replaced and I don't feel like forking out another $800 for that job because NYC drivers are a**h*les; so I put them on.

Trust me, brah, I know that very well. I hate them. I'm afraid to go over 35 when it rains and I'm on a highway. Scary as hell! My Falken's have to be here soon, already.

I could swear you said the same thing a month ago in regard to a similar topic.... Time to get to business, buddy!

Arnold, great job!!! Please, take some pics in a few days when it settles and in better light. I so want to get rid of this nightmare of a wheelgap I have. I was a click away from ordering my maxspeeds after everything was set up with the shop, but I backed out (blame it on my G35 dreams for the near future..)

Now than handling is better and bumps are absorbed smoother, how is the ride? How much bumpier does it feel compared to stock? The one thing my stock GLE suspension gives me is the smoothness of the ride and the comfort of not feeling any of the bumps or potholes on an uneven road. NOTHING like our 325i.

It's bumpier just a tad more. I can notice it. I can bear it, really...because the car is just so damn well put now. I haven't stopped tossing it around. The rear seems to be where the car is taking most of the bumps...but that could also be because my trunk is full of the OEM sh*t right now. So there's about 80-100lbs of old crap dragging the car down.

Edit: Also, I may or may not be imagining this...but the acceleration feels just a bit more brisk. It could be because I'm taking corners much faster than usual...or it could be because there's less air-resistance flowing underneath my car; just a theory, don't flame me for it. But I wasn't the only one who noticed it, though. My friends and pops did too. *shrug*

you're probably feeling the reduced "backend squat" when accelerating. With the stiffer suspension there is also reduction in "nosedrive" when braking which improves the braking feeling, but doesn't necessarily improve braking distance.

Haha, you're right. It makes sense. It did feel as if my braking improved, too. Thanks. :P

SEMy2KGo: I know, I saw it. But man, I just spent so much dough on all of this. I'm gonna' take a break.

Hankooks are gonna run me about $400 for a set. A little over 100 per tire. I'll probably be at the LI meet up in Smithhaven. I'm looking forward to the next couple of meets on the mark, really. I'll try my best to make it to the Johnson Park meet, and I'll likely be at the Smith Haven meet.

Yeah, I need to. But as you probably know, it just rained extremely hard here in NYC. Subways and **** were shut down.

The car settled today. Damn...looks so great. All of my friends were givin' me props, especially my female friends. What a great first mod. With the settling also came a slighly smoother ride it seems.
