Welding the butterfly Screws on the MEVI?

Welding the butterfly Screws on the MEVI?

I just read that two people welded there butterfly screws on their mevi.. DId anyone eles do this? They both used Loctite red hi temp. What is the deal with this? Just wondering so i know what i will have to do. I don't want any engine problems...

Weld is not the same as using Loctite...

But yes, you should use "a little" Loctite on those screws so they don't come loose and get sucked into your engine...

I figured it would be a good idea to do this. Are you talking about that red stuff that goes on screw treads?

Loctite 271...thats the red one used on threads.Nothing pulls 271 apart.Easier than welding and will do same thing.

What if you ever want to remove the screw??? What do you have to do to get it out??

2 people who used loctite on the butterfly screws came lose so they welded the screws..

To get 'em apart you'd have to get a torch and burn 'em out.

Hmmm,never had the loctite come loose...

well then that is good to hear i was getting worried that my engine would suck in my screws
