hey i just got a 98 maxima gxe, and my friend just got an 2000 audi a6 2.7t and i was wondering which is faster? I always figured his was faster and he always poked fun at me for it, cuzz hesa big guy n im always callin him slow, but ne way he did it infront of some one els the other day and the guy said that the maxima is actually faster. Does ne one els here know?? the cars are both stock. they are both automatic, oh n can ne one tell me how many liters my max has?
oh ya and wut about a 2.8 a6 non turbo?

I dunno what the other guy is talking about. The Audi is faster just because its a 2.7 and its turbo. And ur max is stock as far as i know so yeah the audi is faster.

 

Yeah, he would smoke you, They have like 250hp stock.

 

wut would be some quick mods i could get to catch up with him? I was thinking cai, exaust, or ecu, or juss 2 of the 3 or all if neccesary? ne other suggestions? or would all of those still not work?

 

No bolt ons will allow you to get 60hp in order to catch up. The only way is boost.

 

what is boost? and i was looking to keep this fairly cheap an affordable? possible?

 

Boost = Forced Induction of Air --> Supercharge (~$4000) or Turbocharge (~$5000+) the engine. Putting such boltons as Y-pipe OR headers (relatively very close gains), intake, MEVI, JWT ECU, cat back, UDP will gain you ~30-35 hp at a cost of ~$1500-$2000, excluding labor. You can also put Noz 75 shot or more, but that will require upgrade fuel injectors, fuel pump and other stuff. All numbers are pretty rounded, with some of them I may be wrong so if that is so, correct me.

 

so a 5grand turbo charger will do the trick? or do i need to do that pluss the boltons?

 

yah the 2.7t has 250hp/258lbs tq so it would definitely get ya. you can handle the non turbo 2.8 though. it may have 200/207 but the a6 outweighs the max by like 500lbs-700lbs depending on equipment and options (factory lists 3516-3759lbs curbweight). you should be able to take a nonturbo 3.0 as well(220/221)

 

If you Turbo'd it, the cold air intake and header mods are knocked out. Besides, if you turbocharge your maxima that alone should make your car a good bit faster than his Audi.

racing him is like racing a slower version of the S4, same motor but heavier... dont see how u can beat him unless u have boost or maybe spray (large amount).

 

The 2.7T is no joke! The thing will smoke the ever living $hit out of you. You can add a blower but buying the thing is the easiest part of it all. What you have to understand is that you cant just add a turbo onto your motor and expect it to work the way it should. It will require a lot more time and MONEY to do it. Also correct me if im wrong but that thing is a quattro so yea not only does he have a much faster car but superior handling in comparison.
I say dont even bother unless you are willing to dump in 10,000 into the motor in parts and labor. Just my .02
