I have a problem with the engine idle speed. When I start it in the morning, the idle rpm stays at 1,500. After I drive it for a while, I start it again the rm lower to 600~700. A mechanic told me that I need to change the "head" temp sensor. Is is the same thing with themostat?

Eng. temp needle shot up in my car and seems like the thermostat is the culprit .. no codes, it gave 0505 which is 'no failure detected/recorded" .. there is coolant in there, the fans are starting normal ... no leaks and so no problem with hoses ... radiator is fine ...

dealer asked for $220 to change the thermostat
