Two methods

There are two methods. Both require removal of the caliper and rotor.

1) The "by the book" method.
Remove the hub. Use a hydraulic press with suitable fixtures to gently press out the broken stub and press in the replacement. Reinstall the hub. The disadvantage to this method is that it is time consuming and requires access to a press.

2) The way almost everyone does it.
Use a 3-pound hammer and suitable punch. Using brute force, pound out the broken stub. Put the replacement stud in the hole. Put four washers over the exposed stud. Put the lug nut on the stud backward (flat side toward the hub). Tighten the lug nut, and this will pull the new stud into place. Remove the nut and washers. The disadvantage to this method is that the hammer blows may damage the wheel bearing. The damage may show up weeks or months later.
