when I make a turn to the right. It goes off pretty quickly. I checked the brake fluid and it is about halfway between minimum and maximum. Could this cause the brake light to come on? Any other possible causes...?

I'd top the resivoir off. It could be that the level goes below when your turning or braking...might want to check to make sure you don't have a leaky system, or bad brake pads....etc.

check the inside of the master cylinder reservoir too. my sentra has a little foam float that rises and sinks with the brake fluid level. one time I pushed it down without knowing and it got stuck, and the BRAKE warning light stayed on. the system must have thought the fluid was low or something. to get it un-stuck, all I had to do was pull it back up.

and for whatever reason, nissan and most all other foreign car companies wired the brake warning light in with the charge warning light. so that if for some reason, the red battery light comes on, BRAKE lights up too. I dunno why, but I think it's a bad idea. we get people in cos both the charge and the brake warning lights are on, and when I check the charging system, there's a problem that kicks on the little red battery light, and the brake light comes on with it. all I can tell ya is that it's wired in through the blue "bulb check relay" which is under the hood. that could be going bad too.

and I've had cases where the brake fluid/hydraulic sensor in the master cylinder has gone bad, and kicked the light on. try disconnecting the harness there and seeing if the problem keeps up.

also there is another brake light that will come on if one of your bulbs is burnt out....thats why I was asking which brake light it was....so maybe check to make sure all of the lights in the rear of your car are working.

 

My front pads were replaced a year ago, but my rears may be wearing thin. I wondered if there were some sort of sensor that would cause the brake light to glow if the pads were thin. First thing is to top off the fluid level. Thanks guys....
