Can you damage the frame but not the axle in this situation?

I know this should probably go in off topic, but most of the people who would know this answer usally don't go there.

Ok, some background. . . My sister has a 2000 Sentra and a couple weekends ago she accidently took a turn too fast and hit a wall. . . Well this wasn't an ordinary hitting the wall as there was no damage to the body or paint whatsoever, but she did bend 2 of the rims.

Wel she is in the prcess of getting the car fixed and now the car, with new rims and such, has the left front wheel out of alignment, like 3 degrees off in camber or something, and they think it is because she might have bent the frame. This seems odd to me because they say the axle is perfectly fine and she did nothing to it. They replaced the strut thinking that that was the problem but it didn't help, and she has 4 new rims and 2 tires. Could there be a problem with the frame even though she didn't bend the axle, or does this just not sound right?
