Need a mechanics input
Yesterday i cleaned my TB and discovered the wonders it does. I cleaned my moms jeep this morning, and just a minute ago i did my brothers car (my old car, a '94 1.8l eclipse.)
For years since we had the eclipse it has started horrible, immediately dropped way below idle and would almost stall, headlights, brakes, anything that used power would basically choke the car to death. Apparently, this dirty TB (it was REALLY freakin dirty) was the direct root of these problems. After cleaning, the thing started w/out a flinch in a fraction of a second and idle'd like a pro.
But, it idle'd at 2000 rpm! It's not going down either, the idle is staying at 2 grand. I might consider it to be normal on a cold start till it warms up, but not while its warm.
My question is, is it possible that the ECU might have made sevre adjustments to try and fight this problem for the longest time, that now that it was instantly fixed that the throttle is set way too high for the idle? I don't know if thats possible, but if so, would resetting the ECU possibly fix the problem?
I know this isn't maxima related but I was hoping someone might care to lend some insight

I'm no mechanic, but it wouldn't surprise me. My idle went up when I cleaned the TB and I believe other's have posted about that side effect too. Never anything that severe, but if it was really bad maybe it could have change it that much. I don't know anything about the eclipse, but look on the max near the TB for the Idle Air Control Valve (IACV) it has this round plastic screw thing that can be used to adjust idle speed. Then maybe you can find something similar on the eclipse.
Usually after driving for a while the ecu should be able to compensate for the adjustment. If not, you could just disconnect the battery for a few minutes. It may run a little rough after reconnecting the battery, but it should clear up within a few minutes of “normal” driving.
I haven’t had too much experience with an Eclipse, but I know from experience that some vehicles (fords) can take forever to adjust to new changes. So if it comes down to it, just give it some time. (Or bring it to me, I could always use a little $$!!)
