Squeaky Seatback
Squeaky Seatback
This is p!ssing me off so much. Every time I clutch, it sounds like my clutch is squeaking but it's just the springs in the driver's seatback as I depress the clutch pedal and push back into the seat. Every time I go over bumps, the seat also squeaks. It sounds like I'm driving a rickety old armchair.
Has anyone figured out an easy way to get inside the seat back and put some lube there? I don't want to destroy my leather in the process.

i got it too! its the lumbar, at least on mine it is, i still have yet to take the seat back off and see what i can do, but yea its annoying. you can get it to go away temporarily by adjusting the lumbar. if i get bored this weekend i will do it and post.
Oh ****, if that's true you are the MAN.
99se5spd, thanks for the tip, I did try changed the lumbar level (I need it all the way out, so that's not a permanent fix), but Maxima99SEbose, that's awesome if it fixed the problem for you. Gonna give it a try tonight!
When I started this thread, I had visions of having to peel apart the seat and oil the springs inside, LOL. Thanks to all who replied.

OK, my screw was WAY loose. However, tightening it all the way didn't seem to make a huge difference in the squeaking. I haven't actually driven yet, I just got in the seat in my garage and moved around and pushed the clutch. However, now that I've tightened the screw, I can feel two distinct settings/stops. When you move the lever from no support to the first stop, it adds upper lumbar support; when you move it all the way to the second stop, it adds in lower lumbar support. I prefer just the upper support so now that the screw is tightened it stays in the first stop (before I don't think it did). Most importantly, it doesn't seem to squeak in the first stop! Woo hoo. I'll have to report back after I drive it. Thanks again, 99SEbose.
