Hi everyone!! I am in the market for a new car, and these three cars come to my mind: 2002 acura tl-s, 2002 lexus is300(manual), or maxima AE(manual and fully loaded). They are about the same prices when fully loaded, and i cant decide witch to get. I currently own a 97 maxima se fully loaded(auto). i've been enjoying this car from the date i bought it, and it's been problem-free. So, i was thinking about getting another max. i heard that more powerful version of maxima is coming out soon. any info on that? any style changes, ect.? right now, im strongly leaning towards is300 manual or tl-s with navi..what's your thoughts?

Yes a more powerful Maxima is on the way, as is the new bigger faster Altima. The IS300 will get a manual tranny next year, so I think that puts a whole new spin on that car. The TL and TL Type S are very affordable compared to the Lexus.

Typically the Lexus will holds its value the longest, but is underpowered based on Acura and next Maxima. First year production with a stick could also present some bugs (Lexus). I love our (wifes) Maxima SE/AE but at a recent GM autoshow in Motion Test Event, I have to say that the Lexus handled like a dream. I needed Strut Bar, and suspect Rear Sway Bar before my 2001 AE will handle that well. I would go Lexus ....and look to add a supercharger once warranty ends !!!!

First year runs can have more problems. I dont know if just adding the new tranny qualifys. My mother has a 98 GS400, the first year those were available. It has had several electrical problems. Things replaced: yaw sensor, TCM, entire sound system, ABS sensors (2). The mechanism for the powered steering column has made some awful noise from day one that no one can seem to fix. This is unusual given Toyota's reputation for quality.
