WTF is up with my rotors/pads?

I had new brake pads put on as well as had my rotors machined about 5,000 miles ago because the front of the car would tremble everytime I tried to slow down or stop. That fixed the problem, until now. It's not nearly as bad as it used to be but it's starting to come back again. Is there something wrong with my rotors/pads or is this normal? And is there anything I can do to prevent it from happening again or so quickly after just having my brakes done?

Unless they are overtorqued, its just classic Maxima rotors. I drive like an SOB and had the same problem after about 5 - 10K AFTER I had them turned.

I switched to Brembo blanks and it got a little better - but they still give me problems. Next time I'll try X drilled but I doubt it will do much.

The problem can be all but solved with "frozenrotors"
But they are costly at 105.00 per rotor

the brembos he means are rotors, brembo blanks are just not x drilled/slotted. i have the same vibration, and it sucks. my pads are good, rotors are shot. i dont wanan replace them until i need to, and ill get some NICE rotors. pick up some irotors or powerslot or something like that, even brembo blanks.

I've heard everyone say go to the X drilled. Any ideas on what is the best bang for the buck? What i mean is where is a good place to get them and what brand.

Bottom line Nissan rotors suck.......Once turned....expect less miles til they need turned again. Mine warped 3 X in 11K miles

Actually... Rotors normally warp because the brakes were not "bedded" properly when new. Then the internal properties of the metal are incorrect and once the rotor warps eventually it will return to being warped even if it is turned by the shop.

Take a look at this:

so here's the question before me right now. when my rotors get really warped to a point where i can't stand the vibration anymore. do i spend the $200 on getting new nissan pads and the rotors machined or do i go with one of the other options you guys suggested? which one makes more sense moneywise?

and can anyone suggest a place to get the bremo pads/rotors? just so i can get an idea of how much this is going to cost me. thanks.

Thanks a lot man! I'll have to look for something similar when mine get worse. I'd like to get atleast 3K more miles out of these before swapping them. Atleast now I know what a good price is now. What about pads? What kind should I get and where?

I'd avoid buying stock rotors.

I had my 2000's rotors turned 9k ago and they're still good. Generally the turned rotors won't last as long as new ones, but our rotors are quite expensive, and turning them only costs $15, which is why I did it...plus half the people said don't bother ("they'll warp right away again), and half said turning is a good idea.

I just went through all of this 3 weeks ago, I have a 2003 and @ 28K the rotors and pads where shot. Brembo doest offer Rotor's for the 03 yet. Some places say they have them but there not for the 03. I ended up just getting a pair of OEM Rotors and some ceramic pads. Dont turn the rotors, the stock ones are paper thin. Good luck

Brembo blanks are the best from my understanding, slotted are good as well(that what i have) and cross drilled are ok. The argument from powerslot is that cross drilled my crack more easily, but i dunno if that is 100% true. so i ended up going with power slot brembo rotors purchased in a GD the .org. i think it is still up, or goes on forever or somethin like that.

Brembo powerslot and pbr ceramic pads.
not a close up, but you get the idea.

i appreciate it but don't bother. i'm gonna try to see what life i can squeeze out of the current rotors because they're not warped too badly yet. when i'm serious about buying i'll have to look you up or try to find a good deal on these somewhere. i just wanted to do the research now so that when i finaly do want to change my rotors i'll be educated in the matter and know what to get. thanks again man i really appreciate it.

My rotors are warped and they are progressively getting worse. I am going to switch to slotted/cross drilled brembo soon, probably hold off until after christmas and get eibach springs and illumina shocks/struts and have everything put on at the same time.
